Frequently Asked Questions
The questions I hear most, answered simply.
1. What is MBR (Medical Beauty Research)?
MBR stands for Medical Beauty Research, a German skincare line built around advanced, results-driven formulas. I'm Arizona's MBR provider, which means you can experience these treatments and products right here, with someone trained to use them well. What makes MBR special is how targeted it is. Every formula is designed for a specific concern, from firmness to texture to overall renewal, so your treatment can be shaped around what your skin actually needs. I've spent more than two decades learning how skin responds, and MBR gives me a precise, sophisticated toolset to work with. If you're curious what a truly personalized facial feels like, the MBR treatment is a lovely place to begin.
2. What's the difference between a Biologique Recherche facial and a regular facial?
The difference is customization. A regular facial usually follows one set routine for everyone. A Biologique Recherche facial starts by reading your skin as it is that day, then builds the treatment around what it's telling me. Biologique Recherche is a French line known for this kind of precision, the way a tailored dress fits one person and no one else. Nothing is generic. Every product I reach for is chosen for the face in front of me, which is why the same client can have a different facial each visit. Your skin changes with the seasons, travel, and stress, and this approach changes with it.
3. Does microcurrent therapy actually tighten skin?
Yes, and here's how it works. Microcurrent sends gentle, low-level electrical currents that tone the muscles beneath your skin, a bit like a workout for your face. Over a series of sessions you can see more lift and firmness, especially along the jaw and neck. I'm the only esthetician in Arizona certified for this specific treatment, so it's something you won't find just anywhere. It's completely non-invasive, there's no downtime, and many clients find it relaxing. It pairs beautifully with a facial when you want visible results without anything surgical. If firmness is what you're after, microcurrent therapy is where I'd start you.
4. Is microneedling (Micro-Puncture Lab) painful, and what's the recovery like?
Most clients are surprised by how comfortable it is. Micro-Puncture Lab is Biologique Recherche's version of microneedling, and it's designed to renew your skin's texture and firmness with very little discomfort. I prep your skin carefully first, and most people describe the sensation as mild, more of a light prickle than pain. Afterward you might notice some pink or warmth, similar to a light sunburn, and that usually settles within a day or so. It's a gentle way to encourage your skin to refresh itself. You can read more about the Micro-Puncture Lab and whether it's right for your skin.
5. How often should I get a facial?
For most skin, every four to six weeks is the sweet spot. That timing follows your skin's natural renewal cycle, so each visit builds on the last instead of starting over. If you're working on something specific, like firmness, breakouts, or hyperpigmentation, I might suggest a closer rhythm at first, then space things out once your skin settles. Consistency is what makes the real difference. One facial feels wonderful, but a steady rhythm is what keeps skin looking its best over time. When you come in, we can map out a schedule that fits your skin and your life, so it never feels like one more thing to keep up with.
6. Which facial is best for sagging skin and the neck area?
The neck is often the first place we notice change, and it responds beautifully to the right care. For firmness, I usually recommend combining microcurrent therapy with a customized facial, so we're toning the muscle and caring for the skin at the same time. The Best Neck & Bust from MBR is one I often reach for here, made specifically for that delicate area. Everything is shaped around your skin, so if the neck and jawline are your main concern, that's exactly where we'll focus. It's a non-invasive way to see real lift over time, no surgery, no downtime, just steady, visible results.
7. What happens at my first visit?
Your first visit starts with a conversation. Before anything else, I want to understand your skin, your history, and what you'd like to see, so we begin with a complimentary skin analysis. From there I build a facial around what your skin is telling me that day. There's no rushing and no set script. This is a private, one-on-one space, so it's just you and me for your whole appointment. Depending on what we do, your visit can run anywhere from one to two and a half hours. You'll leave with skin that feels cared for, and a clear sense of where we can go next together.
